This place was absolutely amazing!!! I don't understand why this hotel has negative reviews. We stayed in this hotel 3 nights in late November, so almost pure winter time. Skardu by this time is sunny and not too cold during the day but god deadly cold during the evening and night. Turns out not all hotels and guest houses have heating and hot water during this time! We had booked another place for our stay and as soon as we arrived at the place the first evening after our first day in Skardu, we literally almost died of how cold the room in that place was. The owner of that places helped us find a place and brought us to Himalaya Hotel. Finding a warm room in the middle of such cold was for us a life saver. The staff at Himalaya Hotel were the kindest and most helpful, they accommodated our room and beds in no time and provided us with all the necessary items for us to get warm and have a pleasant night. Everything was absolutely comfortable here. And I haven't even spoken of the location and the view. From our room and from the restaurant one gets to have the most amazing mountain view. Breakfast was great and was included in the price, so we could get ready for our daily activities. Simply amazing and absolutely recommended and thanks to the other owner who brought us here. Why Do Good Businesses Fail?
Here’s my experience with Hotel Himalaya, Skardu.

I found this hotel on Google Maps and got in touch through the listed number, which turned out to be the owner’s. About a month before my trip, we discussed and agreed on rates for a two-night stay, with a third night as optional; no advance payment was requested, which is quite normal for good hotels.

When I arrived, I was surprised to learn there was no booking in my name, even though I had been in touch with the owner for weeks and reconfirmed just two days earlier. Eventually, I was given an alternate room. I had booked a Standard Room, but was accommodated in a Twin Bed Room without any adjustment or apology, I just let it go.

The issue repeated itself the next day when I returned from Khaplu. Despite sharing my dates again on WhatsApp and confirming the possible third night if Deosai was open (which it was), no room was reserved for me. I was only accommodated because one happened to be available at that time but for third night, I was being put on hold in case room becomes available, which was not feasible for me at all and I had to cancel my Deosai plan.

What went wrong?
Their attention seemed entirely focused on corporate guests and foreigners. Individual travelers like me were simply overlooked. At one point, I saw a local family waiting at the restaurant for basic service, eventually helping themselves because all staff were busy attending to foreign guests.

There’s no doubt Hotel Himalaya is among the best in Skardu when it comes to location and facilities. But if such poor management and guest neglect continue, even a good hotel like this can lose its charm over time.

After this review I received an apology by owner over a phone call; which is really appreciated, and indicates The Hotel is in Good Hand. I hope this instance will be taken as a take away for improvement.
